Saturday 10th June 10am – 4pm at Meon Vale
Climate change and biodiversity loss. We hear governments debating them and see activists protesting about them but what do they really mean and what can we do?
The Great Big Green Day aims to be a fun day that looks at the changes we can all make to improve our environment and protect our planet for our children.
It’s about everything from our local wildlife through to shopping!
Raffle and give aways! Prizes include an eco-hamper worth £150 and a wildlife camera. We also have 40 water butts to give away.
Food and Drink available!
WHAT’S ON
Allotments
- Forest of Hearts – Community allotment planting for all ages. Come and plant a metre square plot, you’ll be amazed how much you can grow! 11:00-14:00

Meon Vale Woods
- Guided Woodland Tour looking at the habitats and wildlife with ecologist Rebecca Freeman 14:00 at the entrance to the woods.
Come on a guided walk of Meon Vale! This will be a great opportunity to learn about the wildlife at Meon Vale and see what habitat management and creation has been put in place to maintain the wildlife we have and to encourage new wildlife into the site. The site supports a wide range of species including rare bats, great crested newts and an important water vole population. The site has seen some amazing benefits put in place for biodiversity, including a new wetland area and even houses specially built for bats, so much so in fact that the site has been shortlisted for an award by the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
